Introduction to Fused Glass

This fusing class opens up a world of artistic possibilities by teaching you how to fuse compatible glass pieces together in a kiln. You'll select a mold from our studio collection to create a one-of-a-kind project for your class. Introduction to Fused Glass covers essential skills, such as basic glass cutting, shaping, cleaning, and layering techniques, as well as foundational kiln programming. In addition, we will examine various finished projects and discuss how they were made.
The class fee includes the rental of all necessary tools, with fusing fees for class projects. However, students must purchase glass from the studio for their projects. No glass purchased outside of the studio is allowed in our fusing classes.

Class Requirements

  • No previous glass fusing experience required.
  • Classes are limited to three students. (Seats will only be reserved if the student pre-pays before the class date.)
  • At least two students must be enrolled for us to conduct the class.

Fused Glass Christmas Ornaments Drop-In Only

Well, it is getting to be that time of year again, and time to make some fused glass Christmas ornaments. These are simple to make, using purchased pre-cut fusible glass designs. There will be very little, if any, glass cutting, so no experience required! The precut fusible glass shapes come in numerous designs. Our most popular for Christmas are the stocking, Christmas tree, snowman and gingerbread man.
We supply the kiln time (used to fire these ornaments), frit & dots.... You have to purchase the pre-cut glass blanks, dichroic glass (if used) & just set some time aside to come create. We will fire them for you in our studio glass kiln and you will return at a later date to pick them up. This is a "come-any-time" during the day type of class, but please if you have more than 3 in your group, please let us know. We need to make sure we can accommodate your group.
This is a prior class photo. Your fused glass ornaments will look different.
If you want the "full" fused glass class, please take the Introduction to Fused Glass class. It is the more intensive fusing class.

Class Requirements

  • No previous experience required. If children under 12 yrs of age attend, a parent or guardian must be present
  • This is a drop-in class and no deposit is required.
  • You will have to come back at a later date to pick your finished ornaments up.
  • We Include tools, incidentals (like frits and dots) and fusing fees for class projects.
  • You purchase the glass blanks and various pre-cut glass pieces & Dichroic glass (if used)

Fused Glass Lantern Class

Create stunning glass panels to fit in a white or black indoor/outdoor metal lantern of your choice. This class allows you to design four unique panels using various materials, including cut glass, crushed glass, rods, stringers, beads, and more. All instructions and materials are supplied. Each piece will be of your own design. The glass panels you create will go into one of our kilns overnight, and then they will be ready to fit back into your lantern. Your finished fused glass lantern will be ready for pick-up at a later date.

Fused Glass Pinwheel Class

Experience the joy of crafting a colorful glass pinwheel that spins in the breeze. This class will teach you how to use fusible scrap glass to create a beautiful glass pinwheel.
Our Fused Glass Pinwheel class includes two firing charges (fusing and slumping), regular frit, stringers, noodles, and a 1-spinner kit. Other kits can be purchased. Additional glass and dichroic materials for the project incur extra costs.

Basic Silk-Screen Printing on Glass

This class offers a unique opportunity to explore silk-screen printing on glass. You'll make reusable silk screens and use them to imprint designs onto glass using glass paints. The printed glass piece will then be fired in the kiln to make the paint permanently part of the glass. Once your printed glass piece is finished, it can be cut apart and used in future fused or stained glass creations. However, this glass cutting process will not be covered in the class.
Our Basic Silk-Screen Printing on Glass class will cover kiln time and provide only the supplies used to create your screen. Any glass (i.e., System 96 fusing glass or regular glass) used to create a stained glass piece incurs extra costs.
